You know what I love almost as much as I love owning my small business?

Supporting other small business owners and making new friends who have similar dreams is something I’ve come to really enjoy.

When I met Emily with The Subtle Sawyer, it was three years ago and I had just started my business. Not too long after I started doing illustrations, Emily commissioned a custom illustration with her son and husband.

Right around when my son Carter was born, Emily also had another baby boy, so of course they needed an updated illustration! What I loved about creating a new illustration for them was getting to see how her sweet family has grown right alongside my skills and process (thank you, Procreate and iPad!) – it’s so fun to see the growth for both of us.

In Emily’s illustration, I am in love with the neutral color palette with the pops of blue! Also, Emily’s hairstyle was so cute. My favorite details though were found in her boys’ outfits – they were too adorable! Between the puffer vest, jean jacket, moccasins, and the patterns, I was in love! I love Emily and her cute family so much, and I had so much fun creating for them again and watching her family continue to grow up!
